Staff Highlight: Matt

We believe the backbone of our service is the people behind the scenes. Educators, Software Developers, and Customer Support are just a few of the teams working to make Northern Colorado real estate more efficient and cooperative at IRES. We will be highlighting some of these exceptional individuals in the coming months. We hope to continue to build stronger relationships with our Subscribers through greater transparency and a human touch.

Hello Matt! Would you tell us a little about your role at IRES?

I’m one of the RealGo developers responsible for maintaining and enhancing IRES MLS.
More specifically, if you like something in the MLS, I was directly involved and worked hard to achieve.
That thing you don’t like about the MLS has nothing to do with me.

What led you to work with IRES?

My wife fell in love with the mountains on a road trip with her sister, so SHE led me to Colorado. As for RealGo – their small team and community involvement (Volunteering, Make a Difference Day, etc) is what attracted me originally. I love the importance RealGo places on developing and maintaining relationships within the team. They know that a team that plays together stays together.

What is your favorite part of your role?

It’s nice to work on something that has such a direct impact on people where I live. I personally know Realtors in Northern Colorado that use the features I helped create.

Tell me something about you that most people wouldn’t expect?

I’ve jumped off of the Las Vegas Stratosphere, which was awesome.

Do you have any favorite hobbies or pastimes?

I’ve got a 4 year old son that I like going on adventures with – swimming, scootering, rock climbing, all the parks within a 50-mile radius, etc. He also likes to climb on the cement blocks of light poles and insists his picture be taken – I don’t know why.

What is your favorite food?

My inner child is screaming “PIZZA!”, so my outer adult will agree.

Tell us the best part about living in Northern Colorado:

I moved to Fort Collins from a small town in Arkansas, and they have a similar feel to one another. Both have quick access to the beautiful outdoors, and both have (overall) kind people. As a bonus, there are places here open past 8 p.m.

What small thing do you do to try to make the world a better place?

You know when you arrive at a deli counter, and there are people already in line, except it isn’t clear where the line actually begins? If I’m asked what I need first, I always make sure the people who were there ahead of me are helped first.
