I don’t know about you, but 2023 put me, my team, and coaching clients through the wringer! The overwhelming consensus was, “I want this to be fun again!” So with that in mind, I want to share my joyful business audit process with you. I do it every year to help me create a business I actually enjoy!
Take Inventory
It all starts with a brain dump. I like sticky notes, but you can also make a list or use a spreadsheet. Write down everything you do in your business, every client you had, marketing activities, admin activities, classes you took, conferences you attended…everything!
Rank Each Thing
Next you’ll rank each thing on a scale from 1-10 based on enjoyment. One is the worst, and 10 is ultimate enjoyment. After they’re all scored, take a look at your list. Anything that’s a 7 or above, you’re taking with you into 2024. Anything that’s below a 5, try to get rid of, delegate or rework to be more enjoyable. The middle ground can stay or go; it’s up to you.
Plan to Stay in the Zone of Enjoyment
With this ranked list, the last step is to make a plan to stay in your zone of enjoyment for 2024. This may include hiring a transaction coordinator, referring out less-than-ideal fit clients, ditching social media, or partnering with a junior agent to help with showings. One of the best parts about being in real estate is building a business that supports how you want to work.
Focusing on enjoyment helps to build a sustainable business… and isn’t that what we all want?
